Get Smart

This is mostly about typing. You can use it for other meanings, but to me, it's about people who type like a one-handed monkey with arthritis in the fingers.

Once upon a time there was a magical land called Language Arts class. In this land teachers taught students how to use the English language properly.

Then the pupils found another land called the Internet and promptly forgot everything their Language Arts teachers had taught them, along with all the decency their parents had instilled in them and the tact of human communication they would have otherwise gained from any real-life human interaction.

The biggest complaint I get from people on the internet is that I take it too seriously just because I like to type in full sentences, use "big words", and fuss over grammar.

Um... that's called being a learned individual? Maybe if you paid attention in class more often, you'd be one too.

"But this is the internet, not school! I don't have to type properly!!" Just because it's the internet, it doesn't mean I can't talk like I speak English as a first language. If anything, you should especially speak well on the internet. Bosses are now doing online checks of potential employees, and if they find you can't remember "i before e except after c" or that someone does not "go too the store", they likely won't hire you because you'll look like a total moron.

Their, there, they're. Your and you're. To, two and too.

You are all preteens and teenagers and you still confuse these words?! Once in a while is okay but I know of people who do this regularly, and by that I mean every time they use the word.
